ABOUT
The culmination of Mátti Kovler's residency at Boston University's Elie Wiesel Center, Quill of the Soul was a tribute to the Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel and Israeli composer and Kovler's mentor, André Hajdu. Featuring a group of international instrumentalists and a vocal ensemble, the evening explored the parallels between nigguns (Hasidic sacred chants) and other world ethnic chants—juxtaposing nigguns sung by observant Jews with Persian, Indian, and Yemenite music.
